Can't have a Mensa without a kitchen? Challenge Accepted!
We are committed to making the impossible possible. Starting in March, the Zentralmensa team will be without a kitchen. Yet, they will still ensure that everyone who studies and works at the Holländischer Platz campus can enjoy a delicious lunch six days a week.
The reason for this is renovation work: the floor of the Zentralmensa kitchen needs to be replaced, which will require a great deal of effort. There is enormous time pressure – the kitchen is supposed to be up and running again by July. Until then, we will do everything we can to avoid disappointing you.
To win this challenge, we need you — our guests — and your mensa love, because we've had to make some changes and adjust our offerings:
Zentralmensa + Moritz
- The usual pricing structure for meals at the Zentralmensa and Moritz is temporarily suspended to allow for more special offers despite the low prices
- Instead of a free choice of side dishes, there are set meals: Because only a few components can be prepared on site, complete menus are offered, including side dishes and/or desserts
- Additional side dishes can be purchased separately
- Instead of meals 1, 2, and 3, there will be meals A, B, and C on a temporary basis
- Meals A and B in the Zentralmensa: A pasta dish with three sauces (vegan, vegetarian, with meat) and another plate dish with either meat/fish or vegetarian
- Meal C at Moritz: Changing menus and always vegan!
- No mensa fries, sorry! (But you can get them outside the zentralmensa!)
- Moritz Evening Mensa: Always burgers (vegan, vegetarian, with meat) instead of a daily changing menu
Torcafé
- The Torcafé is open as usual, but instead of a daily changing menu, lunch will consist of pide (filled flatbread) from the oven
- In addition, coffee from the portafilter machine, delicious cakes and pies as well as various cafeteria offerings will be available from 9 a.m.
Special Offers on Campus
- Bratwurst, currywurst, and large portions of mensa fries at the “Bruzzelbude” (= Sizzle Cart) in front of the Mensa
- Bowls with various toppings are available at the Mensa-Hopper in front of the Zentralmensa
- The Café International, located in the Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaften Gebäude (= Humanities and Cultural Studies building), opens at 11:30 a.m., offering bowls with toppings, cakes, and hot and cold drinks
